What are the hair transplant techniques?
There are two hair transplant methods, SAFIR FUE and DHI. You can decide together with our consultants which technique you would prefer and which is suitable for you.
What are the features and advantages of the SAFIR FUE hair transplant method?
In the FUE method, the entire area of non-collapsing (non-androgenic) hair follicles is homogenised and the proportional roots are harvested individually using special microsurgical instruments. . This procedure allows the donor area to be reused in future years if necessary. As it is a sutureless and bladeless procedure, scarring is not possible. Healing is completed in 2-3 days. A maximum number of hair strands can be taken from the donor area, depending on the need of the area to be transplanted. It is a safe method. It can be used on any patient with the appropriate hair type, whether male or female. The patient does not feel any pain during the hair transplantation. Due to the local anaesthetic, only the area to be treated is numbed and it is an extremely pleasant procedure. Another advantage of this method is that it allows for dense and frequent transplantation.
What is the disadvantage of the SAFIR FUE hair transplant method?
The transplantation process takes a little longer than with other methods. The hair must be shaved before the transplantation.
What is the healing process like with the FUE method?
After the procedure, patients come to the clinic for the first dressing and washing. At the clinic, the bandages are removed and the first wash is performed. You can then return to your daily routine. Rest is only recommended on the day of the hair transplant. From the first to the last wash, i.e. in a period of 7-10 days, it becomes clear that the hair has been transplanted. A crusting is observed. After the last wash, the symptoms of the transplantation have completely disappeared. The hair can then be expected to grow.
What are the features and benefits of the DHI hair transplant method?
DHI literally means Direct Hair Transplantation (DHI). It is one of the newest hair transplant methods. The DHI method is used together with the FUE technique. The hair follicles removed with the FUE method are transplanted individually with the DHI method. One of the advantages of the DHI method is that the opening of the hair canal and the hair transplantation are performed simultaneously thanks to a special pin. This is because this method minimises the duration of the procedure. It is also used as a hair lifting method, except that it is applied to areas with complete hair loss. The DHI method does not require shaving before the procedure. It is a hair transplant method without shaving.
What is the disadvantage of the DHI hair transplant method?
Fewer grafts can be transplanted with the DHI method than with the FUE method.
What is the healing process for DHI?
As with the other hair transplant method FUE, the patient is advised to rest on the day of the hair transplant. On the second or third day, the patient comes back to the clinic for dressing and washing. After this phase, information about medication and care is given.
What are the differences between the two methods?
The main difference between the DHI and FUE methods is in the application.
1. Unlike the FUE method, the DHI method does not require shaving. Only a window is opened in the donor area. For this reason, it is one of the most preferred methods, especially among women.
2. The healing time for the FUE method is longer than for the DHI method. With the FUE method, more grafts and more frequent grafts can be transplanted compared to the DHI method.
3. The number of grafts that can be transplanted in a single session is less with the DHI method than with the FUE method.
4. The FUE method is more economical compared to the DHI technique. The DHI method is more expensive because of the equipment to be used.
5. The application time of the FUE method is shorter than that of the DHI technique.
